Not too bad a start to 2014. Almost finished decluttering the house and tidying up the property, nearly finished final read through of my February release and looking forward to seeing Dolly Parton in two weeks time.
I've always wanted to see Dolly Parton as I love her singing and the sense of humour that comes across in her interviews. For the first time in 30 years she's coming to Auckland so friends and I are going to the show. We're really excited to be able to see her.
On another note the North Island had a big earthquake today. Felt it here in the South Island, but only as a teacup shaker.
This is an update to where I am at the moment, but hopefully in future I'll be able to update my blog on a more regular basis.

September in New Zealand
So far September has been good and bad for New Zealanders. First we had the really bad earthquake in Christchurch. It's going to take a long time for the city to recover with some of their historic buildings badly damaged and others buildings needing to be demolished.
Then we had a really bad storm sweep up through the country in the last few days with floods, strong winds and Southland had heavy snow with the roof falling in on some buildings in Invercargill.
Spring seems to be arriving at last with a sunny day at the top of the South Island, but the clouds are now rolling in so I think it's time to close the doors and stay inside in the warm. Working on the work in progress novel sounds good to me.

March Updates
One of the upsides of living in the southern hemisphere is having sunshine while most of the world is in the thick of winter. The downside is that we're so far away from everyone. This was underlined when the massive earthquake in Chile sent a tsunami across the Pacific Ocean.
This meant an early morning wake up call for New Zealand when the tsunami threatened to arrive here and swamp our coastal regions. Luckily most of its strength was spent by the time it arrived, but it we spent the morning waiting to see what would happen. At least we now know the Civil Defence warning system works.
